Aqaba, Jordan – May 2026
Ayla Oasis Development Company launched its 2025 Sustainability Report and its new “Zero Plastic” Initiative during Ayla Sustainability Day 2026, held in the presence of Mr. Nidal Al Oran, Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).
The event brought together Ayla’s senior management, employees, partners, and stakeholders to review the company’s sustainability performance and outline priorities for the coming period.
The 2025 report provides a comprehensive overview of Ayla’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance, detailing progress in resource management, operational efficiency, environmental protection, and community development. The report underscores Ayla’s commitment to transparent reporting and long-term sustainable growth.
In his remarks, Commissioner Nidal Al Oran highlighted the importance of collaboration in protecting Aqaba’s unique ecosystem:
“Private sector initiatives play a vital role in safeguarding Aqaba’s environment and natural resources. We welcome Ayla’s efforts to document its performance and share its progress, alongside initiatives that encourage the reduction of plastic waste. These steps help translate environmental awareness into everyday practices that protect our city and its marine environment.”
Eng. Sahl Dudin, Managing Director of Ayla Oasis Development Company, said:
“Ayla’s development is intrinsically linked to protecting Aqaba’s natural and marine environment. It is central to the character of this destination and to the experience of everyone who lives here or visits. This responsibility guides our daily decisions, from how we use energy and resources to how we operate our facilities and plan future projects. Our Sustainability Report allows us to assess our progress, identify where further work is needed, and share the results openly with our partners.”
As part of the program, Ayla officially introduced its “Zero Plastic” initiative, a company-wide effort to significantly reduce single-use plastics across all operations, facilities, and events, while encouraging employees, residents, and visitors to adopt reusable alternatives. As a symbolic first step, reusable water bottles were distributed to all participants.
The event also reviewed Ayla’s ongoing projects in renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management, and biodiversity. Key highlights include continued investment in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, advanced energy-saving solutions, and comprehensive waste management programs.
Ayla reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the Gulf of Aqaba’s marine environment through initiatives such as coral reef restoration, supported by robust environmental management and monitoring systems aligned with recognized international best practices.
